This historical house, with the principal structure completed between 1783-1785 and adjoining side rooms added between 1822-1823, is oriented as Northeast Sitting and Southwest Facing - an auspicious orientation under Life Cycle 6 (1784-1803).

In a way, architecture is the accumulation of wealth. Don't you think so?

The fourth son of the head of the house, who was adept in the world of commerce, gathered more than eighty craftsmen and artisan and built this private residence for his family.

All the traditional techniques including the wood carvings, stone carvings and colored patterns help us navigate through space-time and have a deeper understanding of Chinese wealthy families’ quotidian existence in olden times.
