In Feng Shui, everything can be classified into the Five Element (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood). This means every item in our home can also be analyzed for its Five-Element attribute(s).
Some items have a single Five-Element attribute. A fireplace, for example, its Five-Element attribute is Fire. A fish tank's is Water.
Some items have multiple Five-Element attributes. Crystals and gemstones, for example, they are stones. The Five-Element attribute of stone is Earth, however, depending on the color and shape, they can also be classified into Fire, Metal, Water or Wood.
Yellow Crystals - Earth
White Crystals - Metal
Black Crystals - Water
Green Crystals - Wood
Purple Crystals - Fire
Now you are getting confused, aren't you? How do you choose the right items to balance the Qi in your home with the ones that have multiple Five-Element attributes then?
The energy generated by the materials has the greatest impact, therefore, always consider the Five-Element attribute of the material a priority, over the color, shape or number etc.
Whether or not you like the design, this is a good example of a balanced living room. All five elements are present, yet none is dominating:
Fire - Chairs in a Shade of Brown Color
Earth - Stone Tops, Backsplash
Metal - Chair Legs, Cabinets in a Shade of White Color
Water - Couch in a Shade of Grey Color, Round Coffee Tables
Wood - Wooden Floor
