There are many factors that could cause physical illness. Some are innate, some are acquired, some are physical, some are psychological, some are habits or exercises related, and some are just environmental (Feng Shui).

Here are several common physical illnesses that might be residential Feng Shui related. If you are currently suffering from the illness and have one or more of the associated Feng Shui in your home at the same time, maybe it's time to consider a remedy.

Headache, Dizziness:

  • NW side of your home is cluttered.

  • There is a beam above your bed - your head area when you lie down.

  • The en-suite bathroom door is aligned with your bed - your head area when you lie down.

  • There is a wall art of ocean, waterfall or river above the headboard of your bed.

  • The other side of your headboard wall is a toilet or bathroom sink.

  • The headboard of your bed is under a window.

Neurasthenia, Psychological and Psychiatric Diseases:

  • There are big trees and plants around or in front of your house that result in poor sunlight inside.

  • The exterior walls of your house are covered with climbing plants.

  • Your bedroom is architecturally overhanging from the second floor.

  • There are mirrors on your bedroom ceilings or facing your bed.

Heart, Vascular Diseases:

  • There is a high voltage power tower close to your house.

  • There is a big tree aligned with your front entrance door.

  • The very center of your house is a bathroom or a spiral staircase.

  • Your front door is aligned with back door.

Feng Shui is a scientific study of the natural and built environment and the environmental effects on people. It is a lens through which we could examine how much we are aligned and in harmony with our own living environment. It provides tools to change our surroundings to increase our overall well-being.

In Feng Shui, everything can be classified into the Five Element (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood). This means every item in our home can also be analyzed for its Five-Element attribute(s).

Some items have a single Five-Element attribute. A fireplace, for example, its Five-Element attribute is Fire. A fish tank's is Water.

Some items have multiple Five-Element attributes. Crystals and gemstones, for example, they are stones. The Five-Element attribute of stone is Earth, however, depending on the color and shape, they can also be classified into Fire, Metal, Water or Wood.

Yellow Crystals - Earth

White Crystals - Metal

Black Crystals - Water

Green Crystals - Wood

Purple Crystals - Fire

Now you are getting confused, aren't you? How do you choose the right items to balance the Qi in your home with the ones that have multiple Five-Element attributes then?

The energy generated by the materials has the greatest impact, therefore, always consider the Five-Element attribute of the material a priority, over the color, shape or number etc.

Whether or not you like the design, this is a good example of a balanced living room. All five elements are present, yet none is dominating:

Fire - Chairs in a Shade of Brown Color

Earth - Stone Tops, Backsplash

Metal - Chair Legs, Cabinets in a Shade of White Color

Water - Couch in a Shade of Grey Color, Round Coffee Tables

Wood - Wooden Floor

Having a bathroom in the center of the house is one of the most destructive Sha Qi in Feng Shui. It is even more destructive if this bathroom has no windows. This destructive energy would affect the entire household health-wise.

Why?

The lack of natural light, the high humidity and odor-causing bacteria etc all contribute to creating a magnetic field that has poor Feng Shui.

The center of the house corresponds to the center of Tai Ji (Tai Chi). It is the HEART of a house. Energy accumulated in the heart would spread throughout the entire house. Even having a super auspicious front door (Mouth of Qi), the household would be difficult to prosper.

For an existing home, we usually have little flexibilities to change the floor plan. So how to remedy it then?

The lowest cost remedy would be:

  1. Always have the toilet lid down.

  2. Always have the bathroom door closed.

  3. Add live green plants (Devil's Ivy, for example).

  4. Have a light shining on the plant(s) 24/7. Improve the magnetic field through the process of photosynthesis in plants.

Prevention is better than cure. If possible, try to avoid such floor plan at the first place.
